Myopia Control

What we specialise in

What is Myopia?

At Eyewear Central we understanding there is nothing is more important than the health and well-being of you & your child. Now and in the future, we want to see you thrive. You may have noticed yourself struggling to see clearly at a distance, making it harder to concentrate at work and have an enjoyable experience during sport and play. You may have myopia, also known as near-sightedness.

The incidence of myopia is expected to increase significantly as lifestyles change, with you taking part in more near-work activities like using digital devices, studying and reading, and spending less time outdoors. Hereditary behavioural and environmental factors also play a part.

Slowing the progression of myopia is important to reduce the potential risk of developing high myopia and its associated conditions later in life. This is of significant concern given that high myopia is also associated with comorbidities including Retinal Detachment, Glaucoma, Cataracts, and myopic Macular degeneration. The risk of developing any of these conditions increases along with any increase in myopia.

We have experienced, dedicated and passionate optometrists who can offer a wide range of treatment options to slow the progression of myopia like Orthokeratology, Atropine eye drops, special glasses & contact lenses.
